Awareness of Joy
an excerpt from Live Beautifully: A Book to Sit With, by Doris Wedige
Reflections on being fluid...
There is so much that I could learn about life from a babbling brook. They are a constantly changing flow. There are aspects that are relatively constant: the banks along its edges, the rocks and pebbles dispersed at its floor, the plants whose roots hold tight to the earth while their form is in a beautiful dance undulating with the flow of the water. There are bubbles that seem to come from nowhere, floating and dodging downstream, coming and going, no permanence. Babbling brooks are nature’s state of joy: a beautiful flow, a dance, a life of least resistance. The water doesn’t map out a predetermined course; it just flows along on its journey. It doesn’t worry about where it’s been or where it’s going. I intend to live like the babbling brook. I intend to accept the impermanence of things. I intend to live in the Flow. I intend to be a reflection of Light. |
