Letting Go

11/11/21

This week's focus is on letting go.  The Journey of Transformation is about change. It's not just about adding more to your life, but it's about both acclimating to new and releasing what no longer serves you.

When I journal I often get to a point where I write two headings:  Old & New.  Then under each I list that which I am ready to let go of and that which I am ready to integrate.   I write it all out, sit with it and when I feel ready I say a prayer.  I ask for healing of all patterning and resonance with the 'Old.'  And, I ask for acclimation of all that I am with the 'New.'   Once this is done, then my outer life shifts to reflect the new inner me.  (You could also use affirmations or Journaling for Transformation to make the shifts.)

I am reading Dr. Edith Ava Eger's book, The Choice, Embrace the Possible.  This paragraph really struck a chord with me this morning:

If you asked me for the most common diagnosis among people I treat, I wouldn't say depressions or post-traumatic stress disorder, although these conditions are all too common among those I've known, loved, and guided to freedom.  No, I would say hunger.  We are hungry.  We are hungry for approval, attention and affection.  We are hungry for the freedom to embrace life and to really know and be ourselves.

When I read this paragraph, my whole self said an inner YES, this is my Journey of Transformation.  A letting go of all of the emptiness that I have tried to fill with approval, attention & affection and an embracing of the freedom to know myself and enjoy living the beauty of my authenticity.

Other classic quotes that have stuck through the ages came to mind.   'Know Thyself' and 'This above all, to thine own self be true.'   This sums up my endeavor of day by day taking another step on my Journey of Transformation.
