Awareness of Self-Worth

an excerpt from Live Beautifully:  A Book to Sit With, by Doris Wedige

Reflections on nourishing my soul...
The voice in my head is relentless.  It is a force to be reckoned with over and over again.  And it seems to rear its ugly head at the most inopportune times.  When life brings chaos, the ego seems to jump right in at these times when I’m distracted, despite what I need most is to maintain Awareness.  Indulging myself in a morning meditation seems to be my best defense against this evil monster.
I think of meditation as a sort of “plugging in.”  I need to regularly “plug in my Light of Awareness” to maintain my charge.  Without it my battery seems to fade.    I need to keep returning over and over again to get my Light recharged.
Morning is a great time for me to meditate.  I find it easier to quiet my mind as the day hasn’t yet filled my head with distractions.
Just as I nourish my physical body over and over again, I must feed myself with meditation over and over again.  Both meditations in a chair as well as meditative walks in nature restore myself to health.  I will honor my souls’ need for daily nourishment right along with my bodies’ need for nourishment.

I intend to nourish myself:  mind, body and spirit.
